Metabolic syndrome is a clinical condition where a series of cardiovascular risk factors such as insulin resistance, obesity, atherogenic dyslipidemia and hypertension coexist.

At Columbus Clinic this exam is performed with a state-of-the-art ultrasound device that allows an evaluation of liver fibrosis (liver elastography) and the quantity of the fat in the liver (Controlled Attenuation Parameter – CAP): it significantly reduces discomfort, side effects and costs to the patient. In case the Clinic finds it necessary, the exam can be repeated at an early date.
This exam is totally painless and requires the same preparation as any other abdomen ultrasound.
The exam lasts 15 to 20 minutes and doesn’t have any contraindication.
