STEATOSIS AND CHRONIC LIVER DISEASE

Steatosis and chronic liver disease

Steatosis is the hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome.

It is also known as NAFLD or NASH, depending on its progression, and its fat accumulation in the liver’s cells (hepatocytes); through time this accumulation can lead to hepatic fibrosis, a chronic liver disease, cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Liver elastosonography + CAP, together with ultrasounds, allows to evaluate and study the presence of hepatic fibrosis and measure the presence of fat in the liver.
Early staging of steatosis allows the correction of the conditions favouring the hepatic fibrosis development.
